About the Author
Barbara Schlichting of Bemidji, Minn., has been writing for as long as she can remember. She now has nine books in print, including her latest title, The Broken Circle, which was officially released on July 15, 2019. Barbara was interviewed on WDIO TV-Duluth- her book. Three friends gather for a mutual friend's funeral and realize that a childhood friend who went missing fifty years ago has never been located.
“My pen pal of 55 years is really the one who got me started with writing,” she says. “We wrote back and forth and we talked about everything under the sun because we were kids and she wanted me to explain things clearly,” says Schlichting. Chris has since passed away and I've written a play about our relationship. The theater play is titled: Corresponding Lives. It was produced with the cooperation of the Bemidji Community Theater. I have also written another play: Adjoining Lives. It is about a married a couple who have been married for fifty years. They began their relationship as children and raised two children. It's a modern day Love Letters.
After graduating from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis in 1970, Schlichting went on to attend Bemidji State University where she earned a Bachelors in Education and a Masters in Special Education. She taught at the elementary school level for a couple of years, before transitioning to a career as a writer.
Her first published book came out in Aug. 2016. Whispers From the Windi a book of poetry, and was followed by the White House Doll House mystery series. They include Spangled to Death, Word to Death, Clued to Death and Suffragette to Death.
Schlichting is also the author of Body on the Tracks, Suffragette to Death, Blood Red: A Book of Poetry and Martha Washington’s Big Day.

She and her husband of 51 years live in Bemidji, Minn. The couple has two grown sons and five grandchildren.
